Meet The Team
l graduated from Birmingham University with an Honours Degree in Law in 1977.
My training was with a long established regional firm and I qualified as a solicitor in 1980. After working for a period in London I was offered a partnership with a firm in my home territory of north Hertfordshire. My job was to establish new departments and branch offices which gave me a very rich and broad experience of dealing with different types of law in different environments.
As a result I have been lucky enough to practice in a wide range of disciplines including commercial property law, company and business acquisitions, tax and probate, domestic conveyancing, matrimonial law, civil litigation, criminal advocacy, personal injury and professional negligence work. That variety of experience enables me to consider cases from different angles which often helps me to find solutions or identify problems that others may miss.
I like to spend my spare time with family and friends. When they get too noisy I enjoy reading and listening to music, preferably live.
If I am feeling energetic I go to the gym or if very energetic I enjoy skiing and trekking. So far I have been lucky enough to walk extensively in Tasmania and Victoria in Australia, the Everest foothills in Nepal and the 1000 year old pilgrimage to the shrine of St. James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.
I am very happy to have joined Labrums as a Personal Assistant to Michael Labrum. I am really enjoying being part of such an innovative and modern Practice that is driven to provide the best service for each individual. I am looking forward to getting to know our clients and learning about the legal system.
I have a keen interest in how and why people act in certain ways which inspired me to study Criminology and Psychological Studies at the University of Southampton, for which I achieved a 2:1
(BSc Hons Applied Social Science). Since leaving university, I have worked in the retail sector as an Office Assistant, so I have lots of customer service experience which I hope to put to good use at

I moved to England in 1990 and in 1994 obtained a Diploma in International and Corporative Business Law from the London Metropolitan University. I have worked with many solicitors in the UK and in Spain to conclude the estates of the English deceased with assets in Spain, as well as working closely with the Spanish Consulate in London.
For the last 18 years, I have worked in a number of high profile law firms in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire and obtained a diploma in International Inheritance Law in 2014.
I have expertise in most areas of Spanish law and I am now delighted to be part of the Labrums team and look forward to providing Spanish legal services combined with high quality service.

I am also a regular supporter of the charity PetSavers and in April 2015 took part in the PetSavers Charity Abseil down the roof of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Birmingham!
After studying for my degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and my first career as an Army Officer (The Gordon Highlanders), I qualified as a solicitor in 1996. Since then, apart from almost a year as Head of Business Development in the City office of Capita Trust Company, I have worked in a number of high profile law firms in the Home Counties and the Thames Valley before joining Labrums in November 2015.
I have over 19 years’ experience in advising on private client law, mainly estate planning – including inheritance tax planning, wills and trusts; estate administration; advising on later life planning – such as lasting powers of attorney and asset protection; and Court of Protection matters.
My aim is to provide clients with solutions to their legal problems whilst offering personal, practical and pragmatic advice at what is often a very difficult time for them. I enjoy getting to know my clients and working closely with them.
I am a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), which is a specialist professional body covering private client law.
During my spare time I enjoy time with my wife and 4 children – who are all at different stages of living at home or away, with the youngest having recently started at university ! My interests include hill walking, the gym, reading and travelling. I also have a keen interest in working with charities and recently took part in a charity sky dive as part of the 2015 Remember a Charity campaign.
I have a wealth of experience in all aspects of this very personal and sensitive area. I am understanding and have a friendly approach that is very much valued by my clients.
I am always keen to obtain the very best possible outcome for my clients either through mediation, negotiation or through the courts.
I can offer help & advice in all areas of family law including: divorce & separation, finances, dissolution of civil partnerships, separation, cohabitation and pre & post nuptial agreements, all types of disputes regarding children, injunctions and harassment orders.
When at home I enjoy time with my family and friends and enjoy baking and being a football mum.
I am a dual qualified lawyer admitted as a New York Attorney (non-practising) and a Solicitor with over 12 years legal experience in a variety of complex legal matters. I have expertise of having represented companies, media clients and high net worth individuals.
I also enjoy memberships to the Law Society & the New York State Bar Association and have experience in a variety of litigation matters ranging from mediation to trial, advising clients on complex areas of law including regulatory matters and drafting commercial contracts.
Working for Labrums, is not just a legal pursuit for me, but an enormously satisfying professional calling as the firm is client-centric, focusing on delivering client’s objectives.
On a personal front, I am a Rotarian who likes extending support to worldwide social causes. Also, I like to travel with my family and experience different cultures and cuisines.
I joined Labrums Solicitors in August 2016 and am an experienced litigator and dispute resolution lawyer having practiced for many years with a regional practice in Lincolnshire, and a central London firm. I initially qualified as a barrister in 2008 before cross-qualifying to become a solicitor as I preferred to have closer contact with my clients.
I can provide clients with a personal tailored service and competitive fee structures taking into account your needs and financial resources. I am able to give practical advice, sourcing the relevant counsel when needed at appropriate budgets for the work required. I can help clients understand the advice I am giving even if it is not want they want to hear.
During my legal career, I have acted for a variety of clients including individuals, SMEs and national companies and can assist with almost any dispute. I have a particular interest in energy sustainable solutions.
When at home I enjoy spending time with my family, and entertaining friends with home cooked food and good wine.
Michael Buckingham heads up the Spanish Department and has many years of practical experience in all things Spanish, Michael has lived and worked on the Costa del Sol in the 1980s and has been splitting his time between the UK and Spain since 1998.
Whilst Michael specialises in Property Matters (sales, purchases, transfers, contract disputes etc), our Spanish Department can handle anything from simple taxation matters to complex litigation.
Away from the office, Michael's interests are travel, golf, football, rugby, food and wine, reading and of course friends and family. He has been a property owner in Spain for many years and loves the climate, the people and the lifestyle.
As Client Services Team Manager, my role is to ensure that client expectations and needs are not just met, but wherever possible, exceeded.
I am a qualified solicitor and prior to joining Labrums I specialised in property law for over 10 years, acting for high net worth individuals, developers and banks. I have worked at firms in London and Manchester, and have been head of department and always taken a managerial or leadership role. This has included training members of staff, implementing procedures and policies, but maintaining a focus on client relationships and best practice throughout the firm.
I particularly enjoy being involved in firm development and ensuring that services surpass client expectation. Labrums have identified that technology now plays a key role in legal services and can be used to enhance how we interact with our clients and fellow professionals. Each client has individual needs and it is the role of the firm as a whole to meet those needs, from the first enquiry at reception, to the solicitor or consultant dealing with their case, to the assistants and support staff and the accounts team.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and whenever possible eating out to avoid cooking.
I am the Accounts Manager, so I am responsible for all the firm’s Client money transactions and the day to day accounts work. I enjoy dealing with both our clients and solicitors on a daily basis and ensuring our client’s receive the service they expect from a law firm.
Prior to joining Labrums I was part of the management team of my local Jack Wills, a luxury clothing brand. I achieved a 2:1 award in Medical Science (BSc Hons) at the University of Leeds and during my studies I worked within other luxury retail companies, so over the years I have been able to build up a lot of Customer Service experience, and am well aware of what is important to the client and making sure service levels remain consistently high.
Outside work I am an active gym member, and particularly enjoy Crossfit, spinning and running; the latter of which is going particularly well at the moment, as I secured 2nd place in the 10km Race for Life at the end of July. I have also been horse riding since the age of 6 and used to compete in showjumping at an affiliated level, travelling around the country to various shows. Although I do not currently compete I am still a keen spectator, and ride friend’s horses whenever I can. Any other spare time is spent seeing my friends and boyfriend and with my dog Evie. I am also a qualified Nutritionist, and am currently doing a further course in Sports Nutrition. I am hopeful that I will be able to practice as a nutritionist in my spare time in the near future.
I've spent the vast majority of my career in management running customer service and support teams. For most of that time I worked for a large International Bank and for a company specialising in Risk and Employee Benefits.
Most of my roles have involved Operational Efficiency and Change Management where I have been responsible for putting new client focused systems and procedures in place. It is that experience I brought Labrums.
The challenge has been to introduce, maintain and continually improve modern systems and procedures to manage and balance regulatory requirements with the Labrums client experience.
Law continues to go through massive change and it is exciting that Labrums is at the forefront of new and innovative ways of delivering legal services to clients. Labrums has a very strong vision, set of values and growth plans which I am delighted to be part of and to promote.
In my free time I have worked on a voluntary basis for The Cleft Lip and Palate Association. I have also worked with Macmillan Cancer Support and am about to complete the Race for Life for the 14th year in a row.
I like reading, walking, pilates and champagne.
I began working at Labrums in 2013 as an Apprentice and completed my NVQ2 in Business Administration in April 2014, I returned to the Client Services Team following the birth of my daughter later that year.
Prior to joining Labrums I have worked in customer facing roles so am well aware of the need to provide high levels of service. I have also worked in a Law Firm in South Africa before moving to England.
As a member of the Client Services Team, I can honestly say I am proud to be working in an office that is innovative and that sets itself apart from other firms in many areas. The people are great and I can continue to develop my skills and work to provide excellent client service.
Myself & the Labrums Ladies completed the Race For Life St Albans 2016, it’s my 3rd one so far and I hope to do more in the years to come.
I continue to have amazing time here at Labrums and have shared many celebrations with the team; my successful apprenticeship, my first child and my wedding. When I'm not at work I am with my daughter, Araya, she takes up most of my spare time! Any extra time I have I spend with my husband, my family and my friends, as well as taking the occasional nap.
I recently finished Sixth form and started working here, at Labrums, as Junior Admin Assistant in October. This position is allowing me great insight into the field of law, which is closely entwined with both History and Ancient History; my favourite subjects, and ones I hope to pursue at University in the future.
I am fascinated by the deep connection between contemporary Western civilisation and modern and ancient history, and how it is possible to trace historical influences in our beliefs, political policies, and social structures. I am finding working at Labrums really interesting as I am learning so much, and can see how historical influences affect the legal services provided today.
I have had many part time Customer Services jobs whilst at school, including working at the Odeon Cinema and Marks and Spencer. In both these roles there was a big emphasis on customer service, so I am able to bring that experience to Labrums now.
I also completed my work experience in the HR Department of Harry Potter Studios. I am a sociable and hardworking person and approach everything in my life with energy and enthusiasm. I am keen to learn so will always attempt every task I’m given and hope my positive attitude rubs off on those working with me.
I am also very passionate about the Environment and Human Rights, and was the environmental monitor throughout my time in school. I helped to successfully campaign against the building of an incinerator within my home town. In my free time, I enjoy going out my friends; seeing my boyfriend and going on walks with my family and two dogs.
I have recently re-joined Labrums after a few years away, two of which I spent living and working in New Zealand at a global accountancy firm.
My role now is to manage a number of projects to update and streamline our systems, equipment and processes so that the firm improves its efficiency, quality of work and service levels to clients.
I love to travel and have done so extensively. One of my favourite and most challenging experiences would have to be completing the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, against high altitudes and rain! In my spare time I also enjoy socialising with friends and playing netball and have played at my local club since I was 9 years old .
I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a law degree in 2012 and then joined Labrums.
At first I had some reservations about working for the practice founded by my father but have found it very challenging and rewarding.
Prior to studying for my law degree I ran my own successful business for several years. While running my business I learnt the importance of looking after my clients and providing the best service possible.
They are skills I have been able to bring to my present role.
I currently draft and prepare basic wills and legal power of attorneys whilst studying a CILEX Law of Wills and Succession course.
In my spare time I enjoy family life with my two children and socializing with friends.
