Staff from Labrum’s Solicitors joined the ‘pink army’ on Sunday when they took part in the St Alban’s Race For Life.

The team of three, including Teresa Crowley, Katie Chaplin and Michelle Devine-Steel, pulled on their trainers and as much pink clothing as they could manage for the event, in support of Cancer Research UK.

The ‘Labrum Ladies’ completed the event at Verulamium Park in St Albans and raised a fantastic

£495, which will help the charity to fund research into preventing and curing cancer.

Teresa and Michelle took part in the 5k event, while Katie successfully completed the 10k race in 44:53 minutes.

Despite not having entered any running races previously, Katie came second out of all the competitors and has been spurred on to enter the Herts 10k in October.

Katie said: “My boyfriend Calum said if I completed the 10k in under 50 minutes he would double my sponsorship, so he had to cough up. I managed to raise £190 and the team raised £495 in total.

“It’s great to know it’s for such a good cause. My mum had cancer and so did my grandparents so it’s very close to my heart.

“The team really enjoyed the event. The rain on the day was relentless but it didn’t dampen our spirits. It was really good fun and really brought us together as a team.”

Labrums Solicitors, based at Cottonmill Lane in St Albans, offers a range of legal services for businesses and individuals.

A Race For Life spokeswoman said: “Race For Life is a very special event because of participants like the Labrum Ladies who gave up their time to take part and raise a fabulous amount at this year’s event in St Albans.

“On behalf of everyone who will benefit – thank you ladies. We hope to see you next year!”
